Sól Hansdóttir SS25 Presentation
For Sól Hansdóttir's spring/summer '25 showcase, the Icelandic designer drew inspiration from the evocative poetry of Ásta Fanney. "I always start my collections with words," says Sól, whose latest line-up takes cues from Ásta’s surrealist poem River & Sugardusk. “It felt as though her text was a translation of my work, and my task was to translate this back into a collection,” she explains. Titled ‘Simulation Swan,’ the SS25 collection was presented through an immersive two-hour performance at Blox, Copenhagen’s harbor-side architectural gem. Buzzcut Zeazon led the production, working closely with Sól's team to bring this vision to life. Buzzcut coordinated with creative talents, venue reps, and technical crews to ensure a seamless experience. This effort was vital as Sól was highlighted as one of Copenhagen Fashion Week's official ‘Ones to Watch’. Much like Ásta’s poem, Sól’s collection evokes movement and fluidity, with her mood board featuring swans and rivers—imagery that influenced the earthy tones and deep blues in the collection. Known for structured silhouettes, Sól introduced more organic shapes this season, including voluminous skirts—a first for her brand. “If you’d asked me last season if I was going to do my take on a puffball skirt, I’d have laughed,” she admits. Sustainability remains central to Sól’s design ethos. The SS25 collection is crafted from deadstock materials, with exceptions like organic Organdy cotton and bamboo jersey. This season marks a shift for Sól: “I feel like this collection is about translating deeper meanings in our making processes into something more accessible and urgent for my audience,” she reflects.
